Writer Guidelines

Creator guidelines for HeroReads.

HeroReads is a shared space for writers and readers. These guidelines help you understand what is allowed, what is not allowed, and how to build a healthy audience on the platform.

Please read this page before you upload your first story and come back to it whenever you are not sure about a decision. If you still have questions, the support team is ready to help.

Respect for readers

Write with care and think about the emotions and expectations of the people reading your work.

Fair monetisation

Price content fairly. Make sure readers get clear value for every coin they spend.

Safe community

No hate speech, harassment, or content that puts people at risk.

Who can publish on HeroReads

You can become a creator if you are at or above the legal age in your country and you agree to follow the rules on this page. In some regions, parental consent may be required for younger writers. HeroReads may ask for verification where needed.

Original stories

You must own the rights to everything you post. Fan fiction and adaptations are only allowed if they respect the rights of the original owners and local law.

Clear ownership

Do not upload on behalf of another writer unless you have written permission or a formal agreement.

Honest presentation

Describe your story honestly. Do not trick readers with misleading titles, covers, or tags.

Content rules

These rules protect both readers and writers. Breaking them can lead to content removal or account action.

  • No plagiarism. Only upload stories and content that you own or have written permission to use.
  • No incitement to violence, self harm, or real world harm against any person or group.
  • No child sexual content or romanticisation of abuse. Such content will be removed and accounts may be banned.
  • Explicit sexual content should be properly tagged and must respect all age restrictions in your region.
  • Hate speech, slurs, and targeted harassment are not allowed.
  • Graphic descriptions of violence must be tagged and handled with care.

Quality and reader experience

You do not need to be perfect, but you should aim for stories that are pleasant to read.

  • Use clear chapter titles and keep chapters within a reasonable word count.
  • Avoid large blocks of text. Use paragraphs and spacing to make reading easier on mobile.
  • Edit your chapters. Correct spelling, grammar, and basic structure before publishing.
  • Add a strong story description and choose the right tags and genres.
  • Update your story consistently so that readers know what to expect.

Monetisation with coins

Coins allow you to earn from your work. Make sure you use them in a way that is fair and transparent.

  • Do not lock your entire story behind premium if you are a new creator. Give new readers some free chapters.
  • Be honest about your update schedule if you are using premium chapters.
  • Do not use coins as a tool to threaten or bully readers. No pay or you will lose content type behaviour.
  • If you change chapter prices, communicate clearly through your story description or author note.

How to talk to readers

Your readers are the heart of your audience. The way you talk to them matters.

  • Reply to comments with respect. You can disagree, but you must not insult or attack readers.
  • Do not ask readers for personal contact details or private information inside the platform.
  • Report harassment or abuse using the support channel instead of trying to fight back.
  • Use author notes for short updates. Avoid spamming the same message at the end of every chapter.

Reporting and review

Readers and other creators can report content that breaks these guidelines. When a report comes in, the content team reviews the story and may act in stages.

  1. First review and content check.
  2. Warning or request for edits if needed.
  3. Content removal or temporary suspension for repeated or serious issues.

If you believe a decision about your story is not fair, you can open a support ticket with clear information and links to the affected chapters.

Contact creator support

The content team will review the report. If the claim is confirmed, the story or chapters may be removed, and you may lose access to creator tools. Repeated or serious violations can lead to account suspension.

Yes, as long as you are the original author and you still own the rights to that story. If another platform owns exclusive rights, you must not upload the same work on HeroReads.

You earn when readers spend coins on your premium chapters, paid events, or tips. Earnings are calculated in your local currency and paid out through the methods that HeroReads supports.
